WARNING TO THE PUBLIC – HOSTETTER’S BITTERS COUNTER - FEITED. – An atrocious fraud, in which the interests of the public are nearly concerned, is now being practised here and in other cities of Australia. Imitations and counterfeits of HOSTETTER’S CELEBRATED STOMACH BITTERS the great remedy for dyspepsia, have been put into the market. Beware of them. Taste them not. “There is death in the cup.” The true preparation is authenticated by a superb label, embellished with a steel engraving of St. George and the Dragon, and by the signature of the proprietors, Messrs. Hostetter and Smith, affixed to a miniature note of the hand. Look at the label and signature. But the most difficult fraud to guard against is one practised by unprincipled publicans, who fill the genuine bottles of the firm with their own deleterious fire-water, which they retail as HOSTETTER’S STOMACH BITTERS. The penalties of the law will be invoked on these cheats. Let the public be on their guard against them, and purchase the Bitters only of respectable parties on whose integrity they can rely.
